A Day in the Workshop

Behind the Lens: Capturing the Craft

There's something special about seeing your work through someone else's eyes. I had the pleasure of welcoming Loz from LJM Photography into our workshop when we first opened our doors – a fellow creative talent here at Ashmore Arts who knows how to capture the soul of a space.

When Art Meets Art

Loz stepped into the workshop with her camera, ready to document the quiet moments that define our craft.

As I worked at my bench, selecting timber and shaping pieces with the precision that comes from years of dedicated practice, Loz moved around the workshop with an artist's eye. She captured not just the action, but the atmosphere – the way sawdust dances in afternoon light, the concentration in my hands as I measure twice and cut once, the organised chaos that is my working space.

A New Chapter

These photos mark a special moment for me. I've recently settled into what feels like the perfect workshop setup – a space where every tool has its place, where the light falls just right across my workbench, and where creativity flows as naturally as the grain in the timber I work with. Having Loz document this new chapter felt like the perfect way to celebrate not just the physical space, but the journey that brought me here.

The Ashmore Arts Community

This collaboration perfectly captures what I love about being part of the Ashmore Arts collective. I'm surrounded by talented creatives who understand and support each other's work. When Loz suggested a photo session, it wasn't just about getting some shots for our website – it was about one artist celebrating another's craft, documenting the passion that drives us all.

More Than Just Photos

The images Loz captured tell the story our story of Georgie Wood.

I'm excited to share some of these beautiful images in the coming weeks. Until then, a huge thank you to Loz for seeing my craft through her talented lens, and for being part of the incredible creative community I'm so grateful to call home.

Keep an eye out for more behind-the-scenes glimpses of life in my workshop – because every piece of furniture has a story, and every story begins with moments like these.
